Members of the KDS DAR High School Fishing Team, cousins Tanner Mason and Matthew Mason, have qualified for the National High School Fishing Tournament. To qualify for Nationals, the boys needed to place in the top 25 of the boats at the Chickamauga Lake qualifying tournament. Tanner and Matthew got the job done by finishing 15th out of the 310 two-man teams competing. They fish about one tournament a month with the school team.
Both boys have been members of the fishing team for two years. Tanner is a sophomore, and Matthew is a junior. Tanner’s dad, Nicky Mason, is the boat captain for the pair.
The date and location of the National High School Fishing Tournament will be announced later, but it is expected to be late summer or early fall.
