DAR’s Kendrick 4A state runner-up DAR runner Bailey Kendrick capped an
outstanding junior cross country season with a 4A state runner-up finish. If you
know Bailey, you know he was disappointed with that finish as he was going for
gold. Still, it was a remarkable season for the young man, and he realizes it.
He recorded five wins this season, including the county championship and section
championship. Bailey has qualified for the state meet in the 5K every year since
beginning cross country in 2020, his 7th grade year. And he gets stronger every
year too. His finishes are as follows: 7th grade - 39th place - 18:50, 8th grade -
13th place - 17:12, 9th grade - 4th place - 16:31, 10th grade – 3rd - 16:17, 11th
grade - 2nd - 15:49.
Bailey will be looking for the gold in 2025, his senior season. His current 5K personal record is 15:39, which is also his season best. His teammate, Joy McBride, finished 14th in the 4A girls championship with a time of 20:24.
